Dangote Files Corruption Petition Against Ex-NMDPRA Boss Farouk Ahmed at EFCC

Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of Dangote Industries Limited, has lodged a fresh corruption petition with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Farouk Ahmed, the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). Dangote withdrew a previous petition with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to expedite the prosecution.

The petition accuses Ahmed of living beyond his legitimate means as a public official, citing his children's attendance at expensive schools in Switzerland and Harvard, with costs running into several million dollars. Dangote urges the EFCC to investigate Ahmed's finances to restore public confidence in Nigeria's regulatory institutions.

The EFCC is called upon to conduct a thorough probe and ensure justice is served. Olanipekun Olukoyede, the EFCC leadership, is urged to take urgent action in handling the matter.
