Dangote Refinery Shares Could Hit ₦10,000, CEO Says Ahead of IPO

Aliko Dangote projects refinery shares at ₦525 offer price could eventually reach ₦10,000, with small investors prioritized in the September 2026 IPO.

Aliko Dangote, who leads Dangote Industries Limited, has forecasted substantial growth potential in equity from his petroleum refinery's forthcoming listing. During a recent conversation with media, he projected that the opening price of ₦525 per share might eventually reach ₦10,000 per share.

To illustrate this possibility, Dangote noted that someone investing ₦5 million at today's offer price could witness their investment expand beyond ₦50 million should his target be achieved. The planned listing for Dangote Petroleum Refinery begins subscriptions on September 14, 2026, concluding October 13, 2026.

This offering will make available 4.1 billion shares priced at ₦525 per share, aiming to raise ₦2.15 trillion in total capital. For the first time, everyday Nigerians will gain access to ownership in what ranks among Africa's premier industrial undertakings.

During his public statements, Dangote stressed that small investors and retail participants would receive favored consideration in the allocation of shares. He disclosed intentions to distribute dividends using either naira or United States dollars—a strategy meant to protect portfolio holders against the currency erosion challenges that have plagued Nigerian investors previously.

Such measures are intended to broaden participation among everyday citizens, ensuring that large institutional players do not dominate the allocation process. Operating in Lagos, the refinery commenced crude processing activities during 2024.

Its listing to the public represents a fundamental transition in how Nigeria's vital petroleum sector is held—moving beyond private ownership and state control to encompass wider stakeholder participation. The subscription period spans roughly thirty days, giving interested participants time to submit applications for share allotments.
