Dangote Refinery Partners with Honeywell for Chemical Production

Dangote Refinery, located in Lekki, Lagos, is preparing to commence large-scale production of high-margin chemicals, including propylene and linear alkylbenzene, following a new agreement with Honeywell, an American firm. This partnership will utilize Honeywell's advanced process technology and catalysts to significantly boost output, producing an additional 750,000 metric tons of propylene annually and 400,000 metric tons of linear alkylbenzene per year.

These chemicals are essential for manufacturing packaging materials and household detergents. Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Petroleum Refinery Petrochem, emphasized that this collaboration will strengthen Nigeria's energy security and stimulate industrial growth while reducing reliance on imports.

The refinery aims to expand its capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028, potentially making it the largest petroleum refinery globally. Rajesh Gattup from Honeywell noted that the deployment of advanced technology will enhance operational efficiency and meet the growing global demand for essential petrochemical products.
