Dangote Refinery Exports Fuel Surpass Domestic Supply

In September 2026, Dangote Petroleum Refinery exported more fuel than it supplied to the Nigerian market, with combined daily exports rising to 54.63 million litres, a 37.33 percent increase from 39.78 million litres in August. Domestic receipts, however, declined by 22.08 percent to 39.98 million litres per day from 51.31 million litres.
This shift resulted in exports exceeding domestic receipts by 14.65 million litres daily, reversing the previous month's trend. The refinery's production of petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel increased by 15.68 percent to 97.67 million litres per day.
Despite this increase, domestic receipts did not rise, with exports accounting for approximately 57.74 percent of the refinery's total evacuation. The refinery processed about 689,000 barrels of crude per day, utilizing existing inventory to cover the difference from crude receipts of 618,000 barrels per day.
Notably, diesel and aviation fuel saw significant export increases, with aviation fuel making up 87.44 percent of its total evacuation.
