Dangote Signs $400M Deal for Refinery Expansion Equipment

Dangote Group has entered into a $400 million equipment agreement with XCMG Construction Machinery Co. Ltd, a leading Chinese manufacturer, to facilitate the expansion of its petroleum refinery.

The refinery, which currently has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, aims to reach 1.4 million barrels per day, potentially making it the largest refinery globally. The agreement will enable Dangote Group to acquire a wide range of advanced construction equipment to support ongoing projects across refining, petrochemicals, agriculture, and large-scale infrastructure development.

The refinery expansion is expected to be completed within three years. Beyond the refinery expansion, the program will increase polypropylene production from 900,000 metric tons per annum to 2.4 million metric tons per annum and triple urea capacity in Nigeria from 3 million to 9 million metric tons per annum.

Additionally, Ethiopia will see an increase of 3 million metric tons per annum in urea capacity, further solidifying Dangote's position as the largest urea producer globally.
