David Mark: Celebrating 78 Years of Political Legacy

David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark, born on April 8, 1948, in Otukpo, Benue State, is a distinguished Nigerian statesman and politician. He underwent rigorous military training at the Nigerian Military School and the Nigerian Defence Academy, rising to the rank of Major and becoming the Director of Signals in the Nigerian Army.

After serving as a military governor of Niger State and a minister in the communications sector, he faced political challenges during the regime of Sani Abacha, leading to his exile. Mark returned to Nigeria after the regime ended and served as the President of the Nigerian Senate from 2007 to 2015, making him the longest-serving in that role.

His tenure was marked by significant legislative interventions and a commitment to stabilizing the nation amidst political turbulence. Mark is a member of the African Democratic Congress and continues to play a vital role in Nigeria's political landscape, embodying principles of leadership and public service.
