Davido Wins Album of the Year at 2026 AFRIMMA Awards

Nigerian artist David Adeleke, known as Davido, achieved a significant milestone at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) by winning Album of the Year for his album "5IVE." This victory comes after Davido received five nominations, including Artist of the Year and Best Male West Africa. His collaboration with Omah Lay, titled "With You," was also recognized in the Best Collaboration and Song of the Year categories.

The win for "5IVE" adds to Davido's reputation as one of Africa's leading music exports, especially as African artists increasingly compete on a global scale. The 2026 AFRIMMA was particularly noteworthy as it marked the event's return after a two-year hiatus, with organizers promising a larger experience, including the inaugural AFRIMMA music festival in Dallas, which featured African musicians, dancers, food vendors, and showcases.
