Davido's Aide Israel DMW Backs Atiku for 2027 Presidential Race

Israel Afeare, commonly called Israel DMW, serves as logistics manager for Davido the musician. Through social media posts shared on Friday, he threw his backing behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

Afeare made the case that governance by northern leaders serves Nigeria better and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to enable voters to freely express their preferences at election time. Simultaneously endorsing Atiku, Afeare questioned vote projections articulated by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo regarding his purported ability to deliver 2.5 million votes supporting President Bola Tinubu.

Being himself from Edo State, Afeare grounded his skepticism in historical voting data. He pointed to the track record of former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole as his key reference point.

Despite commanding considerable respect and being deeply beloved across the state, Oshiomhole failed to deliver Edo to the All Progressives Congress during electoral contests. His gubernatorial campaigns produced overwhelming victories, yet when presidential races occurred, his party could not secure even 500,000 votes from the state.

From this historical pattern, Afeare reasoned that securing 2.5 million votes remained highly implausible. Afeare's social media commentary also raised concerns regarding a major government contract.

He objected to the decision to award 15 trillion naira in contracts to a solitary individual. For Afeare, this situation demonstrates why transparent administration and accountability to voters remain essential before the 2027 electoral cycle arrives.
