Defence Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Protect Officers Amidst Controversy

Defence Minister Moham Badaru Abubakar reaffirmed the Nigerian government's commitment to protecting and safeguarding officers of the armed forces performing lawful duties. This comes after a viral video showed Governor Nyesom Wike verbally assaulting a naval officer on duty in Abuja.

The Minister emphasized the need for every officer to act within the law and assured full institutional protection against harassment or intimidation. Additionally, the government announced a program to reclaim ungoverned spaces with the help of retired military veterans.
