Defence Ministry Supports Horse Racing for Youth Engagement

The Ministry of Defence has pledged full support for horse racing in Nigeria as a strategy to engage youth and mitigate restiveness across the country. During a visit on Thursday, Tajudeen Dantata, the chairman of the Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria (HRFN), received the ministry's backing.

Dantata emphasized the cultural significance of horse racing, describing it as central to human development and social cohesion. The initiative aims to revive Nigeria's horse culture and provide employment opportunities, with each horse engaging 12 to 15 individuals.

The Minister of Defence highlighted the importance of security coordination during events, given the ministry's mandate to promote peace and unity. Dantata also noted the historical relevance of horses within military traditions, including ceremonial parades.

The ministry's commitment is seen as a strategic move to ensure security during horse racing events and to support youth engagement in national security efforts.
