Court Orders Final Forfeiture of N150m Linked to Mutu

Abdulmalik delivered the ruling, which upheld an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The court found no convincing explanation from Mutu regarding why the funds should not be seized by the government.

This decision followed an earlier interim order against the funds. The EFCC informed the court that it was investigating the money's connection to alleged corrupt dealings involving Mutu during his tenure as chairman of the House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The anti-graft agency argued that part of the funds, including the N150 million, could be traced to kickbacks from a N400 million consultancy contract. Justice Abdulmalik ruled in favor of the EFCC, granting the final forfeiture order.
