Super Eagles Seek Redemption Against Russia in Friendly
Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Russia in an international friendly at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, seeking to recover from a disappointing 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. The match is scheduled for today and comes after the Super Eagles suffered a 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their latest AFCON qualifying outing.
Coach Eric Chelle has brought an experimental squad to Russia due to injuries, club restrictions, and player withdrawals, which have necessitated several changes to the regular selection. This friendly match presents a crucial opportunity for several fringe players and newcomers to demonstrate their capabilities, while also allowing Chelle to evaluate his options for future competitive assignments.
