Cyriel Dessers Out for Season After Surgery on Injury

Cyriel Dessers, a 32-year-old forward, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season following surgery for an injury he sustained during Nigeria's last group game against Uganda in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Initially, Dessers was expected to be sidelined for around two months as he opted for rehabilitation instead of immediate surgery, according to Greek club Panathinaikos.

However, subsequent medical examinations confirmed that his injury had not healed adequately, leading to the decision for surgery. Dessers is projected to return to action at the start of the next season.

He joined Panathinaikos from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers last summer and has contributed two goals and one assist in just five league appearances.
