Nigeria's 2025 Budget Implementation Set to Begin in September - DG Budget Assures Citizens

The Director-General of Budget, Tanimu Yakubu, announced that the implementation of Nigeria's 2025 budget will start by the end of September. This assurance was given during a Ministerial Stakeholders Citizens Engagement Forum in Abuja.

Yakubu emphasized the importance of effective budget implementation and citizen involvement in ensuring fiscal success. He highlighted challenges in setting realistic revenue targets, especially in the oil sector, and the need for prudent fiscal management.

Yakubu also stressed the significance of initiatives like translating budget documents into local languages and empowering communities to hold the government accountable. Addressing the fiscal implications of the Petroleum Industry Act, he emphasized the need to improve revenue recognition and prioritize debt servicing.
