NDMG Condemns Atiku's Lobbying Against Tinubu

The Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group (NDMG), USA Chapter, issued a statement condemning former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar for allegedly using a Washington lobbying campaign to undermine President Bola Tinubu. The group, led by President Daniel Cosmas, accused Atiku and his associates of turning domestic political rivalry into an international embarrassment for Nigeria.

NDMG claimed that the campaign surrounding decades-old U.S. documents related to Tinubu was a desperate attempt to influence foreign officials ahead of the 2027 elections. They emphasized that the frequently cited 1993 proceedings were a civil forfeiture case, not a criminal conviction, highlighting the distinction between civil and criminal proceedings.

NDMG expressed concern over the credibility of the lobbying firm involved, noting that its principal has faced scrutiny regarding his character. The group asserted that opposition politicians should present their cases directly to Nigerian voters rather than seeking foreign intervention in domestic politics.
