The Nigerian Police in Osun State responded to widespread social media claims of a bandit attack along the Osogbo-Iwo road, clarifying that the panic among residents was unfounded. The rumors stemmed from a minor road accident involving a Toyota Sienna, which occupants mistakenly believed to be a kidnapping attempt.

The Osun Amotekun Command also demanded a full investigation into an unrelated incident where a soldier reportedly attacked an officer, leading to one death and severe injuries. The authorities emphasized the dangers of spreading unverified information and urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
