DAW Launches Ecosystem for Women Entrepreneurs in Africa

The Digital African Woman (DAW), a Belgium-based social enterprise, has unveiled a new ecosystem aimed at empowering African women entrepreneurs by providing access to markets, finance, and digital tools. The initiative includes the DAW Cooperative and the DAW Digital Marketplace, along with a Masterclass Hub and Venture Studio.
Founded by HRM Khadijat Abdulkadir, DAW has previously empowered over 20,000 women and issued more than 6,000 microloans across 15 countries. The DAW Cooperative was launched in Abuja in 2025, while the DAW Marketplace was introduced in Kenya in 2026 in partnership with LEAP Africa.
Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, was appointed as the ambassador for DAW. Abdulkadir emphasized the importance of access to markets and technology for women entrepreneurs, stating that the next decade will focus on providing platforms that facilitate transactions across Africa.
