Plateau State Schools to Reopen on September 14, 2026

The Plateau State Government has directed all primary and secondary schools to resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026. This decision, announced by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, follows precautionary measures taken to address reported cases of suspected Diphtheria infections in the state.

The temporary closure of schools, which began on September 7, 2026, was a preventive measure allowing health authorities to assess the situation and enhance surveillance in affected areas. The government assures that appropriate health measures will be in place to combat the disease and minimize transmission risks as schools reopen.

School authorities are expected to maintain hygiene and be vigilant for Diphtheria symptoms. Parents and guardians are urged to prioritize personal hygiene and seek medical attention for concerning symptoms.

The outbreak has resulted in at least 27 deaths and over 303 suspected cases in Plateau State.
