Funke Akindele Warns Kunle Afolayan Amid Film Promotion Controversy

Award-winning filmmaker Kunle Afolayan revealed in an interview that he received numerous phone calls from actress and producer Funke Akindele regarding a controversy surrounding his remarks on film promotion strategies in Nollywood. Afolayan mentioned that Akindele asked him not to mention her name in the interview, emphasizing this by yelling and abruptly ending the call.

Despite this, Afolayan maintained that there is no animosity between them, citing their long-standing professional relationship. He also mentioned their connection through attending the same university and having mutual friends.

Afolayan clarified that the situation seemed strange to him and emphasized that Akindele is like a sister to him. The incident arose from Afolayan's comments on a dance-driven campaign to promote a movie.
