DSS Arrests Man for Impersonating Personnel in Abuja

On Wednesday, the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Moferewa Maiye in Abuja for impersonating a DSS personnel. Maiye, who claimed to be from Agbajojun Village in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State, was apprehended at his hideout near NITEL Junction along Adetokunbo Ademola Way, Wuse II.

At the time of his arrest, he was dressed in a DSS tactical uniform and was armed with a fake pistol. According to a security source, the DSS acted on credible intelligence indicating that Maiye was using the uniform and fake weapon to intimidate and extort money from commuters and motorists.

During interrogation, Maiye stated that his brother, Monday Maiye, was a DSS personnel who had died years earlier, and he claimed the uniform belonged to his late brother. The DSS is currently investigating how Maiye obtained the uniform and how long he has been involved in impersonation and extortion activities.

This arrest highlights the DSS's concerns regarding individuals impersonating security personnel to commit crimes.
