D’Tigress Reveals Provisional Squad for W’Cup Qualifiers

D’Tigress, Nigeria's national women's basketball team and seven-time African champions, has unveiled their provisional squad for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifying tournament set to take place from March 11 to March 17, 2026, in Lyon, France. Head coach Rena Wakama has selected a blend of seasoned players and emerging talents to prepare for matches against Colombia, South Korea, the Philippines, France, and Germany.

The squad features established stars such as Ami Okonkwo, Sarah Ogok, and Ezinn Kalu, alongside promising prospects like Piu Idubano and Adenik Olawuyi. The full provisional roster includes 15 players: Ezinn Kalu, Elizabeth Balogun, Promis Amukamara, Piu Idubano, Nicol Enabosi, Victoria Macaulay, Murjanatu Musa, Palla Kunayi-Akpannah, Grace Efosa, Ami Okonkwo, Ayomid Tewogbad, Rita Igbokwe, Ifunaya Okoro, Wandoo Hemba, Adenik Olawuyi, and Sarah Ogok.

Nigeria aims to secure a spot in the next stage of the tournament, with the top three teams advancing. The team has already qualified for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin by winning the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket.
