NRS Sets July 31 Deadline for E-Invoicing Compliance

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has announced a compliance deadline of July 31 for large taxpayers to fully adopt the national e-invoicing system. This decision follows a public notice issued on February 17, 2026, which outlined the mandatory implementation timeline for the electronic fiscal system, also known as the Merchant Buyer Solution.
Zacch Adedeji, the chairman of NRS, signed the public notice, informing large taxpayers of the need to complete onboarding and integration tests to commence invoice transmission on the NRS e-invoicing platform. Dare Adekanmbi, special adviser to the media chairman of NRS, stated that compliance monitoring activities have already begun to assess adherence levels among large taxpayers.
Non-compliance may result in regulatory enforcement actions as per relevant tax laws. The NRS has urged large companies with a gross turnover of N5 billion and above to ensure they complete the necessary integration activities before the compliance deadline.
