Early Signs of Division Emerge in Kano APC Ahead of Congress

Early indications of internal discord within the Kano chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have surfaced, particularly following the defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. Reports from the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area highlighted emerging disagreements among party stakeholders, who reportedly held parallel meetings aimed at fostering unity.

Notably, a faction aligned with former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje convened a separate meeting, attended by key figures including APC Chairman Alhaji Sani Abubakar Mai Fata and various aspirants for state party chairmanship. The rival group, loyal to Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, also held a meeting, suggesting unresolved issues within the party.

Tensions escalated during a stakeholder unity meeting, leading to verbal clashes among supporters, particularly following criticisms from Hajiya Hasiya Aminu, a former NNPP women leader, directed at Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe. APC spokesperson Ahmad Aruwa dismissed claims of a crisis, asserting that party members coexist peacefully despite minor political differences.
