Ecobank Transnational (ETI) Q1 2026 Earnings: PBT Rises 21%

Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) reported a profit before tax (PBT) of $195 million for the first quarter of 2026, representing a 21% increase compared to $175 million in the same period of 2025. Attributable profit to ETI shareholders came in at $93 million, up 11% year-on-year, with earnings per share (EPS) of $0.0038 (0.38 US cents), compared to $0.0034 in Q1 2025.
Net revenue reached $636 million, a 23% increase from $516 million in Q1 2025, with 38.7% of revenues generated from non-interest income. The cost-to-income ratio improved to 49.0% from 51.6% in the prior year quarter. Return on average tangible equity (ROTE) stood at 19.5%.
Customer deposits grew by $5.0 billion year-on-year to $26.5 billion, while gross loans and advances increased by $2.0 billion to $12.5 billion. Tangible book value per share rose 65% year-on-year to $0.0773. The Group's Common Equity Tier 1 ratio was 13.4% and Total Capital Adequacy Ratio was 16.8% as of 31 March 2026. Payment revenue grew 18% to $78 million, and the value of digital transactions increased 54% to $25.7 billion during the quarter.
