ECOWAS Bank Approves $266.7M for Nigeria Projects

The ECOWAS Bank has approved a total of $266.7 million for strategic projects across West Africa, as disclosed in a statement published on their website on April 2, 2026. This funding was approved during the bank's 95th board of directors meeting held on March 30, 2026.

Nigeria is set to receive the largest share of this funding, amounting to $241 million, which includes $100 million earmarked for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and $50 million for the development of waste management facilities in Lagos aimed at improving recycling capacity and reducing public health risks. Additionally, $91.63 million has been approved for transport infrastructure development in Bauchi State.

The funding aligns with the bank's long-term development strategy to enhance regional growth and resilience. Other countries, such as Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire, are also beneficiaries of the funding, with specific amounts allocated for various projects.
