ECOWAS Parliament Considers AI Adoption for Legislative Efficiency

The ECOWAS Parliament is considering adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve legislative efficiency. During the 2025 Second Parliamentary Seminar in Port Harcourt, the Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Rt Hon Memounatou Ibrahima, highlighted the potential of AI in enhancing parliamentary functions.

The seminar featured expert presentations, panel discussions, and debates on the ethical use of AI for governance and development. Fourth Deputy Speaker Billay Tunkara emphasized the transformative power of AI in reshaping the West African economy and society.

The adoption of AI is seen as a significant step towards modernizing legislative processes and ensuring ethical governance within the ECOWAS region.
