EFCC Intercepts Chief Judge Tsoho's Wife with $160,000

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly intercepted the wife of John Terhemba Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, with $160,000 cash while she was traveling to Benue State. Sources familiar with the development indicated that she subsequently returned to Abuja.

The circumstances surrounding the cash and the purpose of the trip remain unclear, and officials have not clarified the situation. Justice Tsoho is under increasing scrutiny as he is expected to appear before the Code of Conduct Bureau on March 16, 2026, due to allegations of failing to declare certain assets as required by law.

A petition against him claims he did not disclose several bank accounts, including three accounts with United Bank for Africa and Access Bank. The Code of Conduct Bureau Act stipulates that failure to disclose assets can lead to penalties, including removal from office and disqualification from holding public office for ten years.

Justice Tsoho has denied the allegations, asserting compliance with legal requirements regarding asset declaration.
