EFCC Declares Sadiya Farouk Wanted for Corruption

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Sadiya Umar Farouk, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Wanted due to allegations of abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds. The EFCC published a notice on its official platform on Friday, requesting the public to provide information on her whereabouts.

Farouk, 52, hails from Zamfara State and was last known to reside at 8 EN008 Okpo River off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja. She served as a minister from 2019 to 2023 during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The situation escalated following a ruling by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo on April 16, 2026, where Justice Jude Onwuegbuzi issued an arrest warrant against her for failing to appear in court for arraignment. The charges against her, filed by the EFCC, include 21 counts related to alleged breach of trust and abuse of office, involving approximately 1.3 million and 746.6 million naira misappropriated from funds intended for social intervention programs.
