EFCC Probes Ex-NMDPRA Boss Following Dangote's Petition for Financial Misconduct

The EFCC has commenced an investigation into Farouk Ahmed, the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), based on a petition filed by Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group. The petition alleges that Ahmed spent $5 million on his children's education in Switzerland, which is inconsistent with his known earnings as a public official.

Although the petition was initially withdrawn from the ICPC, they continue to investigate. Dangote's legal representative, Dr.

O.J. Onoja, has urged the EFCC to thoroughly investigate the allegations of abuse of office and corruption against Ahmed.

The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, declined to comment on the matter.
