EFCC Witness Testifies in Corruption Trial Involving Ex-Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello

In the trial at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, an EFCC witness, Mr. Olomotan Egoro, a compliance officer at Access Bank PLC, testified that $109 million was drawn from various local government accounts to procure agricultural chemicals, medical supplies, sports materials, and relief supplies.

Egoro presented 13 exhibits, including account documents linking transactions to the Kogi State Government House administration and several contractors. The defense objected to the admission of these documents, arguing that they did not comply with the Evidence Act.

The witness detailed the inflow and outflow of funds in the government house administration's account, covering transactions from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2024. During cross-examination, Egoro confirmed contractual relationships with several local government areas for the procurement of various supplies.

The trial also touched on payments linked to educational materials, medical consumables, agricultural inputs, and relief materials for councils affected by the 2022 flood.
