Strong Stakeholder Collaboration Essential for Water Governance

During a workshop held at the Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC) headquarters in Abuja, Dr. Abdulmumini Aminu Zaria, the Executive Director, stated that effective water governance can only be achieved through strong collaboration among stakeholders.

The workshop focused on assessing Nigeria's progress in implementing integrated water resource management (IWRM) as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), specifically SDG 6.5.1. Dr.

Zaria noted that the outcomes of the survey conducted reflect contributions from various institutions whose mandates intersect with water resource management. He emphasized the importance of this exercise in providing a critical review of findings and building consensus to identify gaps.

Dr. Dangana Abdullahi, the Director of Corporate Support Services, welcomed participants and highlighted the significance of collaboration in achieving sustainable development outcomes.

The workshop served as a platform for collecting and verifying information to ensure the final report accurately reflects Nigeria's status in IWRM implementation.
