Egor LGA Wins Inaugural Benin Unity Cup Football Tournament

Egor Local Government Football Club clinched victory in the first Benin Unity Cup tournament organized by Senator Neda Imasuen, involving seven local governments in Edo State. The final match, held at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, saw Egor LGA defeat Ovia North East 4-2 in penalties after a goalless regulation time.

The winners received a cash prize of N1 million, with the runners-up and third and fourth place teams also awarded prizes. Senator Imasuen highlighted the tournament's role in empowering youth, promoting sports development, and nurturing football talent in Edo State.

Fred Newton Erhunmwuns, the chairman of the local organizing committee, emphasized the identification and advancement of promising players during the competition.
