Ojudu Warns of Voter Disenfranchisement in Ekiti Election

Babafemi Ojudu, a former presidential aide, raised alarms regarding the risk of voter disenfranchisement during the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti State. He reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) faced significant challenges, particularly with equipment malfunctions that prevented the capturing of voter details.

Ojudu noted that the first polling unit experienced a delay of nearly 30 minutes before accreditation could begin, which he deemed unacceptable. He urged INEC to address these challenges immediately to prevent disenfranchisement of citizens.

Ojudu emphasized the importance of a smooth electoral process to inspire confidence in the electoral body and the democratic rights of voters. He expressed hope that this incident would not reflect a statewide malfunction and called for swift action from INEC to rectify the situation and ensure that voters could exercise their rights without undue stress.
