Ekiti State Launches Health Committee for Disease Outbreaks

The Ekiti State Government has inaugurated an emergency health committee to tackle cholera and Lassa fever outbreaks, a move described by Dr. Oyebanji Filani as a significant step towards safeguarding the health of residents. The committee was inaugurated in Ado Ekiti on Thursday and is part of efforts to strengthen health security and improve preparedness for disease outbreaks, including the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

The committee will provide strategic direction, policy guidance, and oversight for the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre. Governor Biodun Oyebanji's administration is committed to enhancing the state's healthcare system to effectively respond to health emergencies.

The committee includes various commissioners and experts, such as Mr. Olusola Gbenga Igotun, who emphasized the importance of inter-sector collaboration and resource mobilization to ensure sustainable emergency preparedness across the state. The committee will also coordinate rapid responses during public health emergencies.
