Ekiti United Coach Bolarinwa Idri Resigns After Season

Bolarinwa Idri, the head coach of Ekiti United, resigned on Wednesday after a notable run in the 2025/26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season. Under his leadership, Ekiti United finished third in a competitive league, earning 30 points and narrowly missing promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Idri's tenure was marked by a perfect home record, winning nine home matches and securing a maximum of 27 points on home soil. His efforts were supported by the Ekiti State government and Dr.

Olusola Osetoba, the technical adviser for sports development. In his resignation statement, Idri expressed gratitude to the players, staff, and fans for their unwavering support throughout the season.

Although there are speculations linking him to several clubs for the upcoming season, he stated that discussions are ongoing but no concrete agreements have been made yet. Idri is a certified coach by the Confederation of African Football and has previously worked with Phoenix Athletic Sports Club, Greenlock FC, and Grassrunn FC.
