Nigerian Footballer William Troost Ekong Retires After 10-Year Super Eagles Career

Nigerian footballer William Troost Ekong has retired from the Super Eagles after a distinguished 10-year career, making 83 appearances and scoring nine goals for the national team. Ekong, who played for Al Kholood in the Saudi Arabia Pro League, announced his retirement on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the privilege of representing Nigeria.

His departure comes after Nigeria's failed attempt to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ekong recalled his debut under late coach Stephen Keshi and highlighted his achievements, including winning medals at major tournaments.

His retirement marks the end of an era for the Super Eagles.
