El-Rufai Accuses Ribadu of Orchestrating Arrest Attempt

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, alleged that Nuhu Ribadu, a prominent political figure, masterminded an attempt to arrest him. During an interview with BBC Hausa, El-Rufai stated that he had evidence of Ribadu ordering his arrest through tapped phone conversations, although the source of the tapping was not identified.

He emphasized that this incident is part of a broader political struggle against the current administration, which he claims is attempting to remove him and others from opposition. El-Rufai mentioned that the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) were involved in the alleged abduction attempt, despite the absence of a court order for phone tapping.

He noted that Ribadu's actions reflect a troubling trend of using state apparatus for political gains. El-Rufai's comments came shortly after his arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja from Egypt.
