Solomon Dalung Supports 'Occupy NASS' Protest Against Senate's Electoral Act Decision

Solomon Dalung, a former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, has thrown his weight behind the "Occupy NASS" protest, endorsing the plan to demonstrate at the National Assembly on Monday. The protest is in response to the Nigerian Senate's controversial decision to exclude mandatory electronic transmission of election results from the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2026.

Prominent figures such as human rights lawyer Femi Falana, former Minister of Education Obi Ezekwesili, economist Pat Utomi, former Nigeria Labour Congress President Ayuba Wabba, and political activist Shehu Sani are expected to participate. Dalung criticized the Senate's actions, emphasizing the importance of credible elections and democratic standards.

He warned against reforms that could undermine the country's future electoral integrity.
