Bugaje Accuses Akpabio-Led Senate of Undermining Nigeria's Democratic Processes

Bugaje, an Islamic scholar and political activist, has accused the Senate leadership, led by Senate President Akpabio, of repeatedly undermining Nigeria's democratic processes through deceptive legislative practices. During an appearance on a television morning show, Bugaje criticized the Senate for its handling of issues such as the Electoral Act, tax legislation, and budget padding.

He specifically pointed out the need for transparency and accountability in the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of real-time electronic transmission of election results, a recommendation already made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Bugaje highlighted the Senate's resistance to key reforms, creating uncertainty in governance and economic planning.

He called for greater scrutiny of the Senate's actions and urged for public support for mandatory electronic transmission of election results nationwide.
