Embrace telemedicine services, Anambra govt urges residents

Anambra State Government is urging residents to embrace telemedicine services as part of efforts to expand healthcare access in the state. The state Commissioner of Health, Dr.

Afam Obidike, emphasized the importance of the initiative during an interactive session, highlighting that there are only 42 doctors currently working in the program. Telemedicine allows patients to consult with doctors virtually, receive medical advice, and obtain prescriptions without the need to travel long distances, particularly benefiting rural and underserved communities with limited healthcare facilities.

Dr. Obidike stressed the life-saving potential of telemedicine, especially in emergency situations where health infrastructure is weak.

The government is committed to strengthening the scheme and warned against actions that could undermine its success. Residents are encouraged to embrace telemedicine to improve healthcare delivery across the state.
