Emmanuel Babayaro Earns Master's in Sports Management
Emmanuel Babayaro, a former goalkeeper for Nigeria's national team, achieved a Master's degree in Sports Business Management from the International Sports Institute (ISI) in September 2026. This accomplishment comes shortly after he was awarded a Doctorate Fellowship from the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Apprenticeship Management Agency in August 2026.
Babayaro, who was part of Nigeria's gold medal-winning team at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, has transitioned from football to a focus on sports management and professional development. In September 2026, he was honored by Governor Uba Sani alongside fellow Dream Team members Daniel Amokachi and Garba Lawal for their contributions to Nigeria's Olympic success, receiving plots of land and having streets named in their honor.
Babayaro's educational pursuits reflect a growing trend among former Nigerian footballers to gain credentials in administration and management, further establishing his identity in Nigerian sports beyond his playing career.
