Enugu Stepmother Arrested for Alleged Murder of Stepdaughter

Mr. Ogechi John has been arrested in Enugu State for the alleged murder of his nine-year-old stepdaughter, Amanda John.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday around 3 PM in Nchatancha Emen, Enugu East Local Government Area. Neighbors claimed that Amanda had been subjected to constant maltreatment by her stepmother prior to her death.

The Enugu State Commission for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, led by Mr. Ngozi Enih, stated that the government is committed to ensuring that the suspect faces the full weight of the law.

Governor Peter Mbah, through a statement on his WhatsApp media platform, expressed zero tolerance for child abuse and homicide, asserting that immediate action would be taken upon learning of such tragedies. The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Amanda's death, and the suspect remains in custody as legal processes unfold.
