UN Disowns Adeyemi, Exonerates Gbajabiamila Over Allegations

The United Nations has officially disowned Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment/Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), regarding his purported appointment to the UN Youth Office. A letter dated July 27, 2026, with reference number UNYO-2026-0017, clarified that Adeyemi holds no appointment, employment, or affiliation with the UN and was never authorized to represent the organization.

This letter was a response to an inquiry from Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the UN dated July 1, 2026. Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, stated that this communication clears up questions surrounding Adeyemi’s alleged appointment and associated documents.

The controversy had also implicated Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, in allegations of forgery. However, Ibrahim confirmed that the UN's clarification effectively exonerated Gbajabiamila, emphasizing the importance of relying on official communications to avoid misinformation.
