Pep Guardiola Urges Manchester City to Increase Transfer Spending for Success

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has playfully criticized the club for being the seventh highest net spender in the Premier League over the past five years. Despite recent signings in the January transfer window, including Antoin Semenyo and Marc Guehi for a combined fee of around £84 million, Guardiola expressed his desire for the club to spend more on signings.

He highlighted that City's net spend is lower than six other Premier League clubs, questioning why the club doesn't invest more money. Guardiola emphasized the correlation between spending and winning trophies, pointing out that the top six teams in net spend over the last five years have been successful.

Despite City's success in securing six of the past nine Premier League titles, Guardiola revealed his ambition for the club to reclaim the top spot in transfer spending to continue dominating English football.
