Esso Celebrates 20 Years of Erha Field Production

Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (EEPNL) marked the 20th anniversary of the first oil production from the Erha Field, located in OML 133, which commenced on March 27, 2006. Over the past two decades, the Erha Field has produced 800 million barrels of oil and delivered 850 crude cargoes, supporting Nigeria's oil output and foreign exchange earnings.

The field has generated approximately $1 billion in royalties and $2.2 billion in taxes, contributing around $300 million to Nigeria's economy. EEPNL developed the Erha Field in partnership with the Nigerian government, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCO).

Jagir Baxi, Chairman and Managing Director of EEPNL, emphasized the company's commitment to Nigeria's deepwater sector and the importance of collaboration with the government and local workforce. The Erha Field operates with a 95% Nigerian workforce, showcasing the project's role in developing local technical capacity and ensuring benefits extend across Nigeria's economy.
