Ethiopian Airlines Expands Operations in Nigeria, Becomes Largest International Carrier

Ethiopian Airlines has emerged as Nigeria's largest international carrier, operating 34 weekly flights following the launch of additional passenger services from Addis Ababa to Abuja. The airline's expansion includes passenger and cargo services to strengthen connections between Nigeria and 150 destinations worldwide across five continents.

Firiehewot Mekonnen, the area manager, highlighted the airline's commitment to deepening its role in Nigeria's socio-economic development. Additionally, new flights from Abuja will serve as a hub for global business and diplomacy, improving connectivity to key destinations like Dubai, Tel Aviv, Sao Paulo, Johannesburg, and Nairobi.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has also introduced new levies raising concerns among stakeholders about increased travel costs.
