Ethiopian Woman Welcomes Quintuplets After 12-Year Wait

Bedriya Adem, a 35-year-old woman from Ethiopia's Harari Region, has given birth to quintuplets after enduring 12 years of unsuccessful attempts to conceive. The rare delivery took place at Hiwot Fana Specialis Hospital on a Tuesday evening, where Bedriya underwent a caesarean section.

Dr. Moham Nur Abdulahi, the hospital's medical director, confirmed that the pregnancy occurred naturally, without the aid of in vitro fertilization (IVF), making the case even more unusual.

The newborns weighed between 1.3 kg and 1.4 kg and are all reported to be in good health, remaining under medical care alongside their mother. Bedriya expressed her joy, describing the birth as an answer to her prayers after years of emotional suffering and societal pressure due to her inability to conceive.

She named the quintuplets Naif, Ammar, Munzir, Nazira, and Ansar, and despite concerns about providing for them as a farmer, she remains hopeful for support from her community and the government.
