Air Marshal Abubakar Retires from Politics in Bauchi

Air Marshal Abubakar, who previously served as the Chief of Air Staff, has officially retired from politics, a decision he announced via a short video message in Hausa on Saturday. He described this choice as difficult and made with a heavy heart, acknowledging the love and support he received from the people of Bauchi State.

Abubakar entered politics in 2021 and was the major opposition candidate in the 2023 gubernatorial election, where he lost to Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Despite stepping away from partisan politics, he intends to continue contributing to the development of Bauchi State, particularly in the areas of health and education through his foundation.

Recently, posters suggesting a possible 2027 governorship bid with the Action Democratic Party (ADP) surfaced in Bauchi. Abubakar thanked his supporters and expressed his sincere apologies for his decision, wishing everyone the best and praying for stability and development in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.
