Ex-CP Fatai Owoseni Urges Pension Reform for Retirees

Fatai Owoseni, a former Commissioner of Police, has called on the federal government to fast-track the implementation of pension reforms for retired police personnel as proposed by President Bola Tinubu. Owoseni emphasized that this reform is crucial for restoring confidence among retirees and resolving ongoing disputes related to the contributory pension scheme.

He highlighted that 98.5% of retired police officers support the proposed reforms and urged the government to ensure timely monthly pension payments. Owoseni also expressed concerns about the management of the Nigeria Police Force pension fund, urging the National Pension Commission to safeguard it from vested interests.

He advised retired officers to embrace dialogue rather than confrontational protests, despite some factions threatening to block major roads. The call for reform comes amid renewed agitation from retired police officers, who have expressed distrust in the government's commitment to their welfare.
