Ikenya Wins Taraba PDP Governorship Primaries

Joel Ikenya emerged victorious in the Taraba State People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries held in Jalingo, where he secured 34,173 votes, defeating his opponent Dinshiya Usman, who received 4,853 votes. The results were announced by Felix Hyat, the chairman of the electoral committee, on Saturday.

Hyat described the electoral process as free, fair, and transparent, commending the state working committee for their efforts in ensuring a peaceful conduct of the primaries. In his acceptance speech, Ikenya pledged to revive Taraba State, aiming to transform it into an industrialized region, improve salaries, and attract investors to boost the economy.

Despite his victory, Ikenya denied allegations of factionalism within the PDP in Taraba, asserting that there is no faction and emphasizing unity within the party to reclaim their mandate.
